The on-going priority attached to R2P by the Foreign Minister (and by DFAT and AusAID), and the recognition of our contribution - such as in the Foreign Ministers' speech at the Civil-Military Affairs Conference (25 May 2011) - encourages us that policy-oriented research can contribute to a shared consensus on the value of R2P and generate creative policy recommendations to that can make a material difference in the lives of at-risk civilian populations.
